Rules & Regulations​

Library Users' responsibilities

  1. Every student and academic member of Universitas Islam Riau must become a member of the library.
  2. Patrons visiting the library must first register in the electronic guestbook by scanning their student ID card (KTM) on the provided automation system.
  3. Patrons must deposit their bags, jackets, and similar items in the designated locker area before entering the collection area.
  4. Only notebooks, laptops, and other valuable items are permitted to be brought into the collection area.
  5. Patrons must behave respectfully and dress appropriately while inside the library.
  6. Patrons wearing sandals and shorts are not allowed to enter the library.
  7. Inspect borrowed books to ensure they are in good and complete condition.
  8. Return borrowed items before or on the due date indicated on the date due slip.
  9. Upload thesis data to the library's automation system to obtain a library clearance from the UIR Library free of charge


Patron Rights

  1. Receive services during library opening hours.
  2. Read any type of collection available in the library.
  3. Utilize all library facilities provided for library visitors.
  4. Borrow any circulating collection for one week and can be extended up to a maximum of 2 times if the visitor is registered as a member, except for reference collections (dictionaries, laws, encyclopedias, directories, theses, dissertations) and periodical publications (newspapers, magazines, journals) which cannot be borrowed.
  5. The number of items that can be borrowed: 3 books (Standard Service), 2 Books (Short Loan Collection Service (KPS))..
  6. Request assistance from library staff to search for library materials and/or request other information.
  7. Photocopy reference collections (printed journals, magazines, encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc.) because these collections cannot be borrowed. .
  8. Skim through theses, dissertations, and theses (maximum 1 chapter) as reference materials because these collections cannot be borrowed .


Prohibition

  1. Smoking, eating, and drinking, except in designated areas.
  2. Scribbling, tearing, or damaging library materials.
  3. Moving library materials from one shelf to another or from one floor to another.
  4. Scribbling or damaging any furniture and other library facilities.
  5. Engaging in altercations and causing disturbances to other individuals or patrons.
  6. Improperly disposing of trash and littering, use designated trash bins.
  7. Using mobile phones in reading areas frequented by other patrons.
  8. Damaging or defacing available facilities such as reading chairs, reading tables, and other amenities.
  9. Accessing unrelated websites on laptops/computers in the library that are not related to library material accessibility and information.
  10. Intentionally tearing, removing, and/or taking parts or all of the content of borrowed or read books.
  11. Taking library collections out of the library without going through the borrowing process. This can be categorized as theft..


Sanctions

  1. Librarians have the right to call, warn, and/or report to the Head Librarian any visitor who violates the regulations stated in points A and C.
  2. If a borrowed book goes missing (or its contents are significantly damaged), the member in question is required to replace the book with the same title and author, or compensate with an amount equivalent to 5 times the book's price for each missing copy, excluding late fees and the price of the book's RFID.
  3. If a borrowed book is damaged (torn, wet) during the borrowing period, the member in question is required to pay compensation for each damaged/wet copy, excluding late return fines.
  4. Any late return of borrowed books incurs a fine for each book for every day of delay.
  5. Theft of library collections is a criminal act. Any criminal activity that occurs in the library will be handled legally.
